In his video for Brighton band Maker’s Devotion, Laurence Dean peers into the private lives of an attractive young couple and analyses their very strained relationship – including some passion-free lovemaking. There’s great work from the two young actors (Flynn Horne and Lauren Sedger) and also some sterling work by the versatile Steve Glashier, here working as DoP, who captures the couple’s intimate moments with a freeze-frame-with-motion effect.
Laurence Dean: “The idea of this video was to tell the tale of a couple and their relationship gone wrong. Separate lives lived together in the same flat, awkward and resentful. Where even sex won’t make things better and becomes just another claustrophobic element of the doomed relationship.”
