Director Sébastien Petretti and his regular DoP collaborator Slyvain Freyens tell the tragic tale of a rather stately wedding in this polished and wonderfully styled and dressed promo for Meridians.
There’s an echo of Kubrick’s The Shining as we tail a small boy on a bike around the halls, before realising that the gun he’s carrying is not a toy. The amazing castle location of Enghien was found near Sébastien’s hometown of Brussels and over a hundred people were involved over the shooting.
Sébastien says he was inspired by a rather shocking tale of his own. “The idea popped up in my mind when I heard a story about my father (when he was 10 years old) who wanted to play with the gun of his father during a lunch. The gun was loaded but nobody knew and he pulled the trigger! Fortunately the bullet finished in a mirror next to his mother.”
